Phar Rangers President to contest for GFA top position

The President of Phar Rangers Football Club, Nana Yaw Amponsah will contest for the position of President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in 2019.

Mr. Amponsah, who holds a Master’s Degree (LLM) in Sports Law and Practice from the Leicester De Montfort University in the U.K, has in his manifesto, made available to the GNA Sports, said he will make the league attractive.

This he said will be done through the establishment of a dedicated branding and marketing department, comprising of industry professionals and experts.

Among his vision, outlined in the manifesto, are the introduction of a transfer fund, which will see the association giving each Premier League and Division One club USD25,000 and USD10,000 respectively yearly, as transfer kitty to conduct their transfer businesses during his first four year tenure.

Mr Amponsah said he will create an effective sponsorship ambassadorial team, comprising of renowned former footballers and other celebrities to build awareness and attract the corporate world to support the GFA’s activities.

The astute lawyer, who recently won the sports category of the prestigious FortyUnder40 awards, also stated in the document that, he would introduce the FA standard player and eradicate the sign-on-fees whiles establishing a minimum wage structure.

He also stated that he would establish a football museum to preserve Ghana’s rich history and also serve as a learning centre to generate revenue for the GFA.

Mr. Amponsah, 34, has actually worked in the football industry over a decade and credited for facilitating the transfer of several Ghanaian players to other leagues globally.
