New Juaben NHIS to provide outreach renewal services

The management of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), in the New Juaben Municipality has appealed to people whose membership cards were due for renewal  not to rush to  their office as they would carry out outreach programmes to cover them.

Mr Kwadwo Gyeke Darko, the New Juaben Director of the scheme , who made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said, due to the short break they had in the  office, his outfit would embark on a month- long outreach programme by sending their equipment to communities  to enable people renew their membership cards or register to join the scheme.

He said the outreach programme would cover all the 180 communities in the municipality and therefore appealed to clients not to rush to the office but wait patiently as they moved to their doorsteps to provide the services.

The NHIA in New Juaben resumed work, after several weeks of break due to shortage of working materials.

As a result of the break, many subscribers, whose membership cards were due for renewal could not do so and had to pay cash to access medical care at the various health facilities while some had to buy drugs which hitherto were covered by the NHIS.

On Monday, when GNA visited the office of the NHIS, many people had lined up waiting for their turns to renew their membership cards, while others were also there to register for the first time.

He gave the assurance that they had enough materials to provide uninterrupted services for all the communities.
