Liberia set to deport 31 Ghanaians for unlawful entry

DeportedLiberia is to deport 31 Ghanaians who are said to have entered the West African country illegally thus without proper traveling documents.

An official at Liberia’s Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization (BIN) says the 31 Ghanaians included 27 men, seven women and three children.

According to authorities, the said Ghanaians entered the country October 15, 2013 by sea on what they described as a strange fishing boat which landed on the Robertsport beach in Grand Cape Mount County, the New Dawn newspaper reported October 21, 2013.

“The 31 Ghanaians came into the country illegally…they are currently there with our commander and we are doing everything for their deportation,” the newspaper quoted BIN Spokesman Colonel Abraham Dolley as saying.

Aside the deportation, the Ghanaians who are currently in custody, will be made to pay a penalty of $1,000 under the Liberian law.

According to the BIN, the Ghanaian Embassy in Monrovia has been informed about the planned deportation.

    The President will not allow any deportation of Ghanian citizens . The head of BIN is only using this isolated incident to generate funding for his bureau . Where women and children are involved , the President will not allow such action to take place .
