NRGP builds farmers’ capacity to increase produce
The Northern Rural Growth Programme (NRGP) in partnership with Nestle Ghana Limited will build the capacity of rural farmers to increase both yields and quality of their produce to meet competitive international standards.
Mr. Roy Ayariga, the National Coordinator of the NRGP, who disclosed this at a meeting with farmers in Wa said the issue of Ghanaian farmers producing to meet international standards was paramount as it was the only way they could compete globally for market.
He said it was for this reason that the NRGP targeted a different approach by taking lessons from past projects that did not making any positive impact on the lives of the people.
The Coordinator of the NRGP noted that the essence of the programme was to ensure that farmers adopted good agricultural practices that would enable them get the needed yields from their produce and better quality for better market.
Mr. Joseph Faalong, the Upper West Regional Director of Agriculture appealed to the farmers to stick to the good agricultural practices they learned for their own benefit.
