The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has declared its support for the proposed new international airport project in the Greater Accra Region.

In order to demonstrate support for the project, GAF has decided to relocate its training facilities from the Bundase Training Camp to an appropriate place.

A statement signed by Colonel M. Atintande, Director of Public Relations at GAF denied that the Bundase Training Camp land has been seized.

“GAF over the period has been engaged in discussion with the Presidential Committee, which oversees the project, the Land Commission and other stakeholders to enable the realisation of the project,” it said.

The statement said three locations in the Greater Accra, Volta and Central Regions have been suggested by the Lands Commission and the GAF would fully assess these locations and any others that may subsequently be identified and select the most appropriate one.

“GAF reaffirms its role and contribution to national development and restates that it will not stand in the way of the new international airport project.”
