Central Region population increases 32% – GSS

The 2010 National Population Census, has indicated that the population of the Central Region now stand as at 2,107,107, which is an increase of 32 per cent as compared to the 2000 census.

Mr Francis Mensah, Regional Director of Ghana Statistical Service, revealed this at Heads of Department meeting held by the Regional Coordinating Council on Monday in Cape Coast.

Of the figure 998,409 are males representing 47.4 per cent and 1,108,800 females representing 52.6 per cent.

He noted that the total population represented 8.7 per cent of Ghana’s total population.
