Emeritus Catholic Archbishop Sarpong, seven others honoured

Emeritus Catholic Archbishoip Kwasi Sarpong together with seven other priests of the Kumasi Metropolitan Archdiocese, have been honoured by the Catholic Organization for Social and Religious Advancement (CORSA) for their outstanding service to humanity.

They were the Reverend Monsignor Gabriel Asare and the Rev Monsignor Joseph Yeboah, both retired, the Rev Fathers Badu Kwarteng, Peter Narh, Anthony Appiah, Gabriel Sekyere and Eric Forson.

They were each presented with a citation at a special ceremony organized by the church in Kumasi.

The Most Rev Bishop Thomas Mensah, the Metropolitan Archbishop, who was on hand to do the presentation, said he had no doubt that that would inspire not only the priest but all to work hard towards promoting the common good of society.

He said as Christians and a church they were enjoined to bring comfort to the poor, the suffering and the socially disadvantaged.

He also encouraged all to be disciplined, humble and accept to live in peace.

Emeritus Archbishop Sarpong used the occasion to counsel the youth to uphold the treasured traditional values of the society and to respect the elderly and those in authority.

Mr Daniel Opoku, Archdiocesan President of COSRA, said they would continue to support the development of both the church and society.
