US magazine to award African achievers in Accra

The New York tri-state area’s premier monthly magazine for black professionals, corporate executives and small business owners, The Network Journal (TNJ), is to hold its inaugural 40 Under Forty Achievement Awards Dinner in Accra to honour outstanding Africans.

Africans, who are continuously reaching for higher goals in their
professions, businesses and community involvement, would be honoured at the event slated for November 6 this year at the Ghana’s Five Star hotel, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel at La in Accra.

A statement copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday said for the past 13 years TNJ had held the U.S. edition of its pioneering 40 Under Forty Achievement Awards in New York City, recognizing the next generation of African-American leaders, who already were exceptional performers in their respective industries, and who were committed to the development of their community.

“Competition for the awards has become increasingly intense, with the number of entries growing exponentially each year and the achievements of the entrants more and more awe-inspiring,” the statement noted.

This November, it said, TNJ would recognize the same caliber of rising stars in a range of industries, including media, technology, finance and the arts, who hail from countries throughout Africa.

“As we celebrate the inaugural “TNJ Africa 40 Under Forty Achievement Awards, TNJ cherishes its role as a facilitator for our up-and-coming African men and women to progress even further in their careers.

“Through events such as our recognition awards program, we hope to bring these accomplished professionals to the attention of our vast network of corporate affiliations, as well as showcase them as role models for our youth. Indeed, they bring honor not only to themselves, their families and their colleagues, but also to the entire African community,” says Aziz Gueye Adetimirin, TNJ’s founder, publisher and CEO.

Founded in 1993, TNJ is an award-winning magazine published each month, except for combined July/August and December/January issues. It provides news and commentaries on issues that affect the growth of business and the advancement of professionals in the workplace for an audience of predominantly African-American professionals, corporate executives and small-business owners.

Engaging more than 88,000 readers, TNJ is distributed nationwide, with a focus on the New York tri-state area.
