Assembly to turn Kpone landfill site into synthetic diesel hub – MCE

Mr. Solomon Tettey Appiah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE),  Kpone–Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA), says the Kpone landfill site will soon become a synthetic diesel producing hub.

According to Mr Appiah, the landfill site which is a dumping site for various waste management companies operating in Accra, and Tema and their environs, would provide the needed raw materials for the production of synthetic diesel.

He disclosed this on Monday during the General Assembly meeting of the KKMA.

He noted that plans were far advanced to get all stake holders especially the Energy, and Finance ministries involved in the planning and implementation of the intended diesel hub.

Mr Appiah mentioned that the Assembly sent a delegation to Germany this year for capacity building on the project adding that  work would soon commence on it.

According to him, KKMA was ready to invest immensely in material waste to create wealth and job opportunities for its inhabitants saying, “Very soon we will be buying the waste materials from the residents’.

Touching on infrastructural development in the area, the MCE gave the  assurance that several kilometres of road within   the Municipality would receive upgrading through the Urban Roads Department to make them motorable citing Zenu and Gbetsile as prioritized areas.

He commended residents and business operators in the Municipality for contributing their quota to the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of the Assembly announcing that the KKMA was currently the Best Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region as far as IGF was concerned.
