Police appeals for arrest of escapee armed robbers

The Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to  provide the  Police with information  that would lead to the  arrest of two suspected armed robbers who escaped arrest on the Buipe road.

The two suspects allegedly robbed passengers of their mobile phones and monies between Buipe and Portor in the Kintampo Municipality of Brong-Ahafo Region.

Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday in Sunyani, that on Thursday, April 12, 2018, Police had a distressed call from victims about their ordeal.

He said Police immediately went to the scene where part of the road had been blocked but the robbers on seeing the Police fled into the bush. 

Chief Inspector Oppong said the Policemen combed the area and arrested two of the robbers but the two others managed to escape. 

The suspects, Rikwaa Gariba, aged 30 and Abubakar Mahamadu, 33 had seven mobile phones in their in possession which were identified by victims as theirs, he said.

Chief Inspector Oppong added that they are in Police custody at Kintampo, assisting in Police investigations whilst efforts were being made to arrest the other two who fled.
