Ghana-Nigeria cannot do without each other – Envoy

The Nigeria High Commissioner in Ghana, Chief Ademola Onafowakan, has said Ghana and Nigeria cannot do without each other because of the long-standing relationship between them.

He said like any relationship there was bound to be friction sometimes but that should not cut the strong bond that exists between the two countries.

Mr Onafowakan said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Ama Benyiwa Doe.

He said Nigeria is the biggest direct investor in Ghana in terms of trade and every average Nigerian feels very much at home in Ghana.

Chief Onafowakan who visited the Cape Coast and Elmina castles as well as the Kakum National Park with his wife, said he was very much excited with the “beautiful experience” and would market the Region’s potentials to the outside world.

He said it was important to extend investment to the hinterland and not to be centered in Accra because the former has untapped potentials that could be developed.

Mrs. Benyiwa Doe spoke about investment opportunities in the Central Region and appealed to Nigerian investors to explore the Region’s tourism potentials.

Chief Onafowakan later met Nigerian students at the University of Cape Coast as well as the Nigerian Community residing in Cape Coast.

Also at the Residency to pay a courtesy call was the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Kyun Jea-Min who told the Minister about a Knowledge Sharing Project (KSP) that the Korean government will mount for the two countries to share knowledge and experiences.

Mrs. Benyiwa Doe appealed to investors from Korea to invest in tourism infrastructure.
