Kenya beats Ghana, SA to win best 2012 Africa Tourism Board Award

Kenya has won the award for Africa’s leading Tourism Board for the year 2012 after beating off competition from Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt.

The announcement was made at the 19th World Travel Awards held at Beach Turks and Caicos Resort in the UK October 6, 2012.  This follows a hotly contested voting process by travel agents across the globe which has been going on for the last one year.

The award places the Kenyan Tourism Board against other winning tourist Boards in the Europe, Caribbean, Americas and Middle East categories for the World Travel Awards Grand Final, which will take place in Delhi December 12, 2012.

South Africa has been winning the African category for the last four years.

Ghana was represented in the Africa category of the World Travel Awards by the Ghana Tourist Board’s Touring Ghana.

South African Airways was named Africa’s leading airline.

The WTA has been described as the equivalent to the Oscar’s.
