Assembly members reminded to be non-partisan

Mr. De-graft Fokuo, acting District Chief Executive (DCE) for the newly created Asante-Akim North District, has reminded assembly members to put the development of the people ahead of partisan political consideration or interest.

He said they should not allow their political affiliation to interfere with the performance of the job for which they were elected.

The acting DCE said their focus should be on bringing progress and making the situation of those they were representing better.

Mr. Fokuo, who was addressing an emergency meeting of the assembly at Agogo, demanded from them total commitment, hard work and sacrifice.

The meeting provided the opportunity for the formation of the various sub-committees and the election of conveners.

He pointed out that the creation of the district was meant to help speed up the socio-economic development of the area and that it was important for the assembly members to pull together to make that happen.

He encouraged them to show keen interest in the meetings of the sub-committees, where most of the assembly’s decisions were taken.

Mr. Owusu Amoako, the Presiding Member, said they needed to do everything to avoid disappointing the people in the district.
