Police makes breakthrough in Bogoso robbery case

The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) has made a breakthrough in arresting suspects involved in a robbery in Bogoso in the Western Region, where one Police Officer was killed and an amount of GH¢900,000.00 including a kilo of gold was stolen.

The incident happened at Plate and Plummes, a gold buying Company on April 29, 2018.

A statement signed and issued by Assistant Commissioner of Police David Eklu, Director-General of the Public Affairs said following the robbery and murder, police coordinated pieces of information in the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western Regions, which led to the arrest of nine suspects.

He said out of the nine, two of them died in a shoot-out with the police, while the seven others were on remand.

The statement said on Thursday, May 24, this year, the police acting on intelligence arrested Kojo Ampomah, 46 at Maajor near Sowutuom and a shootout with another suspect, Nathaniel Udoma Ebu, believed to be the leader of the gang, who died in the exchange of gunfire at Shiasi, East Legon.

The statement said efforts were also underway to arrest Kwaku Minta, Ali Musah, aka Advert, Osman Mohammed aka Isaac and Kweku Asante, who were currently on the run.

In a related development, the statement said coordinated intelligence by the PID led to the foiling of an armed robbery attack at Shai Hills Quarries on May 19, 2018, where Solomon T Tetteh, aka Iceblock, 26 and Michael Obu, alias Gonja were arrested and helping in police investigations.

The two are believed to be involved in recent highway robbery between Kodiabe and Dornyumu.

The Police administration therefore commended members of the public, whose vital information led to those arrests and called for more information to fight crime.
