Kpone celebrates Homowo for the first time in 15 years

The Chiefs and people of the Kpone Traditional area in the Greater Accra Region have celebrated this year’s Homowo festival for the first time in fifteen years.
The various clans in the area recently resolved their longstanding disputes thus paving the way for the celebration.
The people of Kpone are now part of the league of Ga Damgbe states which celebrate the festival made up of elaborate rituals and events that literally
hoots at hunger.
Present at the occasion were dignitaries including the Ningo Prampram District Chief Executive Alhaji Sa-Rahack Nartey, the local parliamentary candidates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The festival was characterised by a variety of traditional events and cultural display including Kpashimo, Kplejoo, Nishuamor and Sei faayaa.
The old and cherished events were interspersed with modern forms of entertainment such as beauty contest, football matches, weight lifting and street carnivals.
Hundreds of people from all walks of life thronged the Kpone town centre to catch a glimpse of the indigenous traditional and cultural showdown of the people of Kpone.
