Dr. Henry Seidu Daanaa, the Minister for Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, has called for stronger collaboration between paramount and divisional queenmothers to strengthen the chieftaincy institution.

This, he said, was vital for the promotion of peace and unity in areas under their jurisdiction to give impetus to the socio-economic development of the communities.

Dr. Daanaa was addressing a one-day workshop, organized by his Ministry with support from the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) on the ‘Justice for Children Policy’ for queen mothers in Sunyani.

About 98 participants from across the Brong-Ahafo Region attended.

It provided the platform to engage them on ways to protect children from violence, abuse and exploitation.

The Minister asked that they also worked together with chiefs to bring development to the people they were leading.

Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, Paramount Chief of Yeji Traditional Area and President of the Regional House of Chiefs, said achieving the objectives of the ‘Justice for Children Policy’ required the inputs of all stakeholders.

He therefore urged the queen mothers to find space to contribute to the successful implementation of the policy.
