Dizengoff Ghana to deploy satellite broadband, mobile services for rural schools

DizengoffDizengoff Ghana, a subsidiary of UK-based Balton CP, says it is deploying a turnkey solution for the delivery of satellite-enabled broadband and cellular services throughout rural Ghana.

The company announced that it has selected Gilat Satellite Network Ltd., an Israeli company with considerable experience in the field to implement the project.

According to Gilat, it will deploy its SkyEdge 2-c hub, Gemini VSATs to schools for broadband services, and its Capricorn VSATs to Mobile Network Operators (MNO).

The company indicates that it is also providing solar-powered CellEdge small cells in conjunction with the Capricorn VSATs for MNOs to extend cellular services across the country.

Gilat believes that with its new network, Dizengoff Ghana will be able to meet the rural communications requirements of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) as set forth by the government of Ghana.
