The Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC) has called for the removal from office of the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Kojo Bonsu, by the appointing authority.

The chiefs accused him of disrespecting them and said they had run out of patience.

“We have had enough of his insubordination and we do not want to have anything doing with him.”

The Council took the extraordinary position at an emergency meeting held at the Manhyia Palace, the seat of the Asantehene.

They chronicled instances where they claimed Mr. Bonsu had spurned well-intentioned recommendations and suggestions they had made on ways to move the city forward.

The chiefs said in as much as they did not and would never want to dabble in partisan politics they had no doubt in their minds that replacing the MCE was in the best interest of the progress of Kumasi.

They slaughtered a sheep to traditionally signify that the position taken was irreversible and non-negotiable.

By that act, Mr. Bonsu is also effectively barred from entering the Manhyia Palace.

The Council had earlier declined a plea by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Alexander Ackon, to give the MCE, who is reported to be indisposed two weeks to appear before it – to give him a hearing.
