Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku is new Bank of Ghana Governor

Dr. Abdul-Nashiru Issahaku has been appointed the new Governor of the Bank of Ghana, a release from the Flagstaff House signed by Edward Omane-Boamah has said.

According to the release, President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Issahaku as Governor of the Central Bank to replace Dr. Kofi Wampah who has proceeded on leave prior to retirement.

Dr. Issahaku, until his appointment, was a Second Deputy Governor of the central bank. His appointment takes effect today, April 4, 2016, the release added.

Dr. Issahaku is a Member of Economy & Research Committee, Member of Strategic Planning & Budget Committee and Member of Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank.

Before his appointment to the Bank on July 19, 2013, he was the acting Chief Executive Officer of the Export Development and Agricultural Investment Fund (EDAIF).

He has also worked with the African Development Bank and the World Bank.
