SADA moves to promote improved water, land use

SADA-savanna-development-authorityThe Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) in collaboration with the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) has initiated moves to promote and sustain improved water and land use across Northern Ghana.

As part of this a two-day workshop on the theme “Enhancing research into policy and practice” has been held in Tamale to identify and plan appropriate interventions to increase landscape productivity through the maintenance of healthy ecosystem.

Mr, Charles Abugri, Chief Executive Officer of SADA, said the goal was to fight poverty by creating opportunities to support investment and transform the lives of the people.

He said enhanced water and land-use would bring enormous benefits to the small land-holder.

Dr. Olufunke Cofie, Head of the IWMI, said they were eager to guide sustainable investments in land and water management in the SADA Zone to ensure that farming remains attractive.

He also announced that the Institute was collaborating with its partners of the conservation alliance to promote small scale irrigation technologies in the area.
