Suspected killer of Abuakwa North MP arrested – Report

The Graphic Online reports that the police have arrested a man suspected of masterminding the killing of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa North, Joseph Boakye Danquah.

The suspect was arrested in an operation led by the Accra Regional Police Commander, COP Dr George A. Dampare, on Thursday dawn February 11, 2016, the report says.

Citing Police sources the publication said the suspect was still being interrogated to establish whether he acted alone or with others.

The Graphic Online indicates that the identity of the suspect is not yet known.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP was reported to have been stabbed to death at his home in Accra early Tuesday morning on February 9, 2016.

Mr. Danquah, who was born on July 2, 1965 and hailed from Old Tafo in the Eastern Region was a Chartered Accountant by profession. His last employment before going to Parliament was as Executive Director of Automotive Springs (Ghana) Limited in Accra.

He was first elected to Parliament in the 2004 elections.

He was the grandson of the Ghanaian scholar and politician, the Late J.B Danquah.

He was MP for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), and he is survived by a wife and two children.

    Anybody be it from gov’t,parliament,chief or individual in connection with the MP’s murder should face full rigours of the law and punish severely!
