A powerfully anointed charismatic pastor of an Accra-based mega-church has compared the trials and tribulations that Ezanetor Rawlings is suffering at the hands of the Klottey Korle constituency branch of the NDC to the sufferings that Jesus endured at the hands of the nation of Israel.

‘The Daughter of Rawlings is being denied a place in the party that her own father founded, much like the Son of God was denied a place on this earth that his father created,’ the pastor boomed to his congregation, and quoted Matthew 8: 20: ‘The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.’

A Marxist historian at the University of Ghana has, however, disagreed with the pastor, saying that Rawlings, like the bourgeois of the 19th century, has worked to raise his own grave-diggers, and that his family has no-one but themselves to blame.

‘If you encourage the ethnicisation of politics, it’ll come back to bite you. Mensah will be lashed with the same whip with which Takyi was lashed,’ the heavily bearded socialist professor said. It is to his great credit that we have to remark that the venerable professor sported a beard bigger than that of the Lord Mayor Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, President of the World Alliance of Mayors and winner of the Best Mayor of Africa award.

But an English professor at the University of Cape Coast has criticised the pastor and the Marxist scholar, and referred to Rawlings as a modern-day King Lear, who in his senility chose sycophants to succeed him.

‘Those sycophants later drove King Lear from his Kingdom, and he ended his days in grief and madness. Let those who have ears hear, especially John Mahama!’ the professor warned.
