Farmers in Northern Ghana advised to start planting

AgricFarmers in the Northern part of the country have been advised to start planting their crops.

This is because Northern Ghana is currently experiencing its major rainy season.

Mr Tetteh Portuphy, Senior Meteorologist at the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Kotoka International Airport, said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Monday.

He also advised people in the North, who live in low lying areas, to move further upwards for their safety, “because heavy rains would always result in some flooding”.

With Southern Ghana, Mr Portuphy said “the coast is almost completely out of the rainy season, and is heading into a weather condition known as the Little Dry Spell.”

He said this weather condition was characterized by fall in temperatures along the coast resulting in atmospheric cold.

The senior meteorologist said this caused the nights to be particularly cold and advised people living within the southern part of the country, to cover up properly at night to avoid any cold related infections.
