Ghanaian man arrested in India for assaulting policemen

A Ghanaian man has been arrested in India for allegedly assaulting five policemen, according to a report by The Hindu publication.

The 44-year-old man, known as Adams Darmaig, the report said assaulted five plain-clothes policemen when they went to arrest him on the charge of duping people. The incident occurred at a restaurant, the report said.

According to the report, Darmaig, whose tourist visa had expired, was being looked for by the police on allegations of money doubling.

The report noted that when five constables traced and lay in wait for him at a fast food joint, and attempted to arrest him, “He picked up a chair and hit constable Shiva Kumar. When the four other constables tried to pin him down, he attacked them too,” the report quoted sources as saying.
