The importance of statistics to economic policy and Africa’s development is gaining center stage in development discourse.

While there have been debates about how reliable statistics from and on the continent could be, multilateral agencies united in working for the continent’s growth, the African Development Bank, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the African Union, have been working to put statistics on the forefront of economic policy and development in Africa.

At the recently held African Statistical Conference in Tunis, Tunisia the major issues about statistics and Africa’s development were discussed.
