Koforidua Regional Hospital to fully computerize services in 2014

stethoscopeThe Out Patients Department (OPD) of the Koforidua Regional Hospital are expected to be fully computerized  this year.

This is expected to eliminate the use of patients folders since all information on the patients would be captured on the computer  and also help reduce the time spent by patients at the hospital.

This was disclosed by the Acting Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Kwame Anim Boamah in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on the achievements of the hospital in 2013 and plans to improve the services of the hospital this year at Koforidua on Thursday.

He said the hospital would soon inaugurate some high technology facilities which were provided to the hospital by the Ministry of Health to enhance the service delivery  of the hospital .

Dr Boamah mentioned some of the facilities as a new Computerized Tomography(CT) Scan Center, new equipments for the intensive care unit and the neo- natal intensive care unit.

He said last year, the Koforidua Regional Hospital was adjudged the best regional hospital in the country at the first Ministry of Health awards Nite for hospitals in the country.

He said a customer and client service center was also created at the OPD to provide an avenue for visitors to the hospital to seek information  and directions  and also have an avenue to complaints on the services at the hospital.

He said last year,  the hospital started some renovation works of some other departments and this would continue this year.

Dr Boamah complained about the interference in the work of medical staff during non visiting hours by visitors,  which disturbed  both staff and patients.

He said another challenge faced by the hospital last year was the delayed in the reimbursement of the hospital by the National Health Insurance Secretariat.
