Police appeals for assistance to combat crime

policeAssistant Commissioner of Police Patrick Sarpong, the acting  Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Commander, said on Friday that the police would continue with patrols after the Christmas and New Year festivities.

He told the GNA in an interview in Sunyani though there were to murders in the Region, particularly on December 30, there was general calm during the festivities.

ACP Sarpong said Kofi Ameyaw was stabbed to death at Techiman by two armed men who knocked at his door at about 1930 hours on December 30 last year.

The deceased was with his wife, Madam Akosua Ameyaw, in their room when the two armed men knocked at the door and as soon as the deceased opened the door he was stabbed on the chest killing him instantly.

ACP Sarpong said Madam Ameyaw could not identify any of them and the corpse had been deposited at the Techiman Hospital morgue.

One Yaw David, 40, who was shot by an unidentified person in a similar at Yeji on December 30 last year, is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

ACP Sarpong said the victim was with his wife in their room at about 2200hours when they heard a knock on their door.

He said the victim opened the door and was shot.
