2006 Ms Malaika Hamamat pleads not guilty

montia_hamamatHamamat Montia, winner of the 2006 Miss Malaika Beauty Pageant, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing preferred against her.

This was after a bench warrant issued for her arrest had been rescinded by the court, presided over Mrs Jennifer Myers Ahmed.

The circuit court had ordered the arrest of Ms Montia, a businesswoman, for failing to appear before it.

Defence counsel, Mr Addo Atuah, had prayed the court to admit his client to bail.

Ms Montia was, therefore, admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢100,000 with two sureties, one to be a public servant.

She is to reappear on January 20, next year.

Ms Montia has been accused of stealing an unregistered Toyota Highlander 2008 model belonging to one Versa Keskinen, a Finnish national.
