Cattle farmer calls for improved veterinary services

CattleThe Ahanta West Co-operative Cattle Farmers Society on Friday called for the setting up of a viable private animal health system to empower local communities to care for their animals.

The Society said at a press conference that the system would also prevent the spread of disease and loss of livestock

It said lack of effective veterinary supervision in the Ahanta West District had contributed to the deaths of many livestock in the area, adding that cattle farmers were experiencing loss of livestock due to diseases.

A study sponsored by BUSAC fund also suggested the provision of adequate number of veterinary officers in the district.
