KAIPTC holds 10th Anniversary thanksgiving service
The Kofi Annan International Peace-keeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) on Friday held a thanks-giving service in Accra to mark the climax of its 10th anniversary celebration and end of year.
The service which was officiated jointly by Wing Commander Reverend G. Y. Temadonku, Senior Chaplain of the Military Academy and Training School (MATS), and Haruna Ocloo, MATS Imam, was on the theme “Give thanks to God in all things”.
Brigadier-General Obed Boamah Akwa, KAIPTC Commandant was full of praise to the Almighty God for how far He (God) had brought them as an institution over the past decade; declaring that 10 years in the life of an institution was a long period, and therefore the need to celebrate it.
He lauded the staff for their hard work over the years which had uplifted the centre to a high level in the international arena.
He assured the staff that their welfare would continue to be paramount to his administration, because without them, KAIPTC’s management could not meet its expectations.
The Commandant urged the staff to work hard in the coming year, in order to maintain and improve upon the high standards that the centre had set over the years.
He announced that KAIPTC had signed an agreement in Abuja with its development partners for the sustenance of the centre over the next five years.
Imam Ocloo in his sermon said thanks-giving was very important in the life of every human being, declaring that “anyone who cannot appreciate his or her neighbor; cannot thank God in anyway”.
He advised humanity to desist from immoral lifestyles such as gayism, lesbianism; for such wickedness, he said, caused God to destroy the people of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Wg Cdr Rev Temadonku, in a homily, urged Ghanaians to be thankful to God at all times for his goodness and mercies.
He commended the founding fathers of KAIPTC for their vision and foresight, and counseled the staff to work hard in the coming year so that they could leave their footprints in the sands of time.
He said within the past decade, one of the numerous achievements of the centre was the training of over 11,000 military, police and other security officers and civilians across the globe.
Wg Cdr Rev Temadonku led the congregation to observe two minutes silence in honour of Mr Ebenezer Ato Siaw, Colonel Tom Ba-taa-Banah and Col Somaila Dadinko, KAIPTC staff who lost their lives in the course of this year.
