Police impounds car with stole animals
The Amasaman Municipal Police Command has impounded a car loaded with eight goats and sheep suspected to have been stolen by a syndicate operating in the area.
Seven out of the eight goats were pregnant.
The car, with registration number GE4796-12, which was carrying the goats was abandoned by the occupants after it had crashed.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency on Friday Superintendent Kwadwo Asante, the Municipal Police Commander said the vehicle and the animals were brought to the police station after an eye witness had alerted the personnel.
Supt Asante said the suspects who were apparently alarmed by the police patrol team decided to avoid them by speeding and ended up crashing the car.
He asked people whose livestock have been raided by thieves to report at the police station to identify and collect the animals.
Supt Asante also called on the medical facilities in the area to report people who report there with injuries since there was blood stains in the car.
He cautioned the public to be vigilant as criminals would take advantage of the upcoming Christmas to attack them.
