Accra College of Education enrolls 327 students for new academic year

The Accra College of Education, has admitted 327 students for the 2013/2014 academic year.

The number of students, made up of 199 males and 128 females were selected out of a total of 1,628 applicants, representing a 15 per cent increase in enrolment compared to the previous year.

Mrs Christina Bampo Henaku, Principal of the College, said the institution train teachers to be able to instil discipline into pupils hence the need to focus on character training.

Mrs Henaku advised trainees to broaden their intellectual horizon to accomplish their goals at the end of the three – year training.

She appealed to the Ghana Education Trust Fund to provide more academic and residential facilities for the college.

Dr Kodjovi Honu Akpali, Lecturer at the Sociology Department of the University of Ghana described teaching as a special calling that prepares people for the future.

“The teacher holds the key to revolutionise society and lift it to a higher and more appreciable level,” he said.
