National Tourism Awards slated for November 29

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is poised to host the 9th National Tourism Awards to reward excellence in the tourism sector.

The Awards scheduled for November 29, at the Banguet Hall of the State House, is on the theme: “Gaining a Competitive Edge through Innovative and Service Excellence”.

Mr Ben Anane-Nsiah, Director in-charge of Special Event, GTA, said this at a press soiree in Accra on Friday.

He said the Award is to encourage competition among industry players and also build relationship amongst the Authority and industry captains.

“It is to provide a solid platform for sponsors and stakeholders to drive their brands,” he said.

He told journalists that the Awards would be rotated among the 10 regions and hosted by the GTA regional managers.

Mr Anane-Nsiah said some of the criteria for the selection of Award winners are good corporate social responsibility, fulfillment of environmental and sanitation regulations, positive corporate image and workplace safety.

The rest are fulfillment of statutory regulations, Adherence to quality customer service and quality control.

He said there were three categories of Awards to be given, including individual, tourism establishment and tourism oriented media organisation Awards.

Mr Samson Donkor, Acting Chief Executive of the GTA, said the regional managers of GTA would do the nominations for the awards.
