Deputy Minister commends local construction firm

MCC roadMr Isaac Adjei-Mensah, Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, has commended Mawums Construction, a local construction firm, for good work done on the 25 kilometre Navrongo-Tumu road.

He commended the firm during his visit to the Upper East Region on Monday to inspect the road and see how the ministry could help address the challenges confronting the sector.

Mr Adjei Mensah said he was impressed about the level of work executed by the construction firm.

He said in spite of the fact that government for some time now had not released funds to pay contractors, the firm had used its own resources to pre-finance the work.

“This is the type of contractors who sympathise with governments when in dire need to undertake development projects. Government will not hesitate to assist such contractors when they are also in need,” he said.

He urged other contractors to emulate the good example of Mawums by supporting government to complete projects whilst they waited for payments.

Mr Adjei Mensah, who is on a two-day working visit to the region, would inspect road projects including those of Navrongo, Paga-Saka, Navrongo-Nayagnia, the Bolgatanga Polytechnic Drainage, and the Bolgatanga roads.

Other projects he would inspect are the Bolgatanga-Bawku road, the Patriga Bridge, Zebilla-Kansaga road, Widnaba-Krukuzua, Misiga-Kulungugu roads and the Kulungugu Bridge.
