Gomoa Achiase lacks toilet facilities

The chiefs and people of Gomoa Achiase, near Agona Swedru, have appealed for a public toilet to prevent an outbreak of diseases in the town due to indiscriminate defecation.

Nana Ofosu Yamoah V, Omankrado of the town, who made this known at Gomoa Achiase, said the absence of places of convenience has compelled both male and female to use the only pit latrine in the town constructed by the people.

Addressing the people to climax the annual Akwambo festival on Saturday, he said the situation has become an embarrassment to residents, especially the women.

Nana Yamoah said requests to the Gomoa East District Assembly, to construct a suitable place of convenience for the town is yet to receive attention.

He said the Assembly had also failed to rehabilitate the local roads, which are in a deplorable state.

The chief of the town, Nana Okru Baah V said a number of promises made by the Assembly to the people including construction of school blocks have not been fulfilled.

Mr Isaac Kingsley Ehunu-Armah, District Chief Executive, in response to the allegations said the Assembly is doing everything possible to assist the people of the town.

He said already the Assembly has donated 40 bags of cement to the chiefs to support developmental projects.
