Ghana to participate in World U-18 basketball championships

Ghana flagsGhana will participate in the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) Men’s tournament  from 26-29 September, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ghana, making her debut at a major basketball tourney at the global level remain Africa  only representatives amongst the 32 participants.

Agus Maura, Secretary General of the Indonesian Basketball Federation told GNA Sports his outfit was looking forward to hosting the rest of the world.

We are aware of the success of the previous editions in Italy and Spain, but are confident we can have the best FIBA 3×3 U18 World Championships ever,” he added.

The participants include Argentina, Belize, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, France, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Hungary, Indonesia and Israel.

The 3×3 event consists of four players from each team, of whom three are on the court at any given time, plus one coach. The game is played on half of a FIBA regulation court, with one basket.

Serbia emerged winners of the last edition held in Alcobendas, Spain last year.
