Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, and owner of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, has directed the club’s management to hold a congress to chart its future.

He said the congress must encompass all stakeholders and individuals to share ideas and experiences on the efficient way of running the red army.

The King expressed his discomfort with the affairs in the club that see some board members at the periphery while he welcomed the team to the Manhyia Palace, Kumasi on Thursday.

Kotoko was at the Palace to present to the King the Premiership title they annexed weeks ago, which makes them the only club to have won the league 22 times.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu charged the board and management to focus on conquering Africa.

Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong, the Executive Board Chairman, announced plans to prune the team from 58 to 42 to reduce the wage bill.
