Ghana to participate in World Swimming Championship in Spain

Swimming poolGhana will for the second time participate in the Federation International Swimming Association (FINA), 15th World Swimming Championship in Barcelona, Spain next month.

The championship, fixed for July 18 to August 4, will be used by the Association to strengthen its relationship with the international body and as well as provide members of the national swimming team an opportunity to rub shoulders with their international colleagues.

The Ghana Swimming Association (GSA) has picked a three-member team, made up of Kwaku Addo, current national record holder of 25.96 seconds, who will compete in the 50 metres freestyle,  Ophelia Swayne, competing in the 50 metres free style and 50 metres butterfly, and Paa Kwasi Jackson for the 50 metres freestyle  and 100 metres butterfly.

The delegation will be led by Theophilus Wilson Edzie and Williams Nana Kyei, President and General Secretary of GSA respectively.

Other members of the delegation include; Helena Williams and Kwami Kpodoh, FINA certified referees who will attend the FINA Technical Congress on July 24.
