The Dominion University College’s Centre for Professional Development and Consultancy in collaboration with the Action Chapel International (ACI), on Saturday introduced a special certificate programme in Strategic Church Management and Policy Development.

The eight-week long programme modules covers congregation management in the church, church governance, Christian leadership, church strategic policies and structural management, church resource management, among others.

The target groups of people for the programme include head pastors, assistant pastors, branch pastors, elders and church administrators.

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Archbishop of the ACI, who formally launched the programme, urged Christian leaders to be time conscious by always ensuring that Churches respect time for programmes and activities, adding that time management was very essential for God’s Kingdom business.

He said for effective Church growth to be realized, there was the need for acquisition of adequate knowledge on Strategic Church Management and Policy Development.

He admonished his fellow Ministers to acquire knowledge to enable them to build God’s Kingdom.

The Archbishop noted that wisdom and knowledge would be the stability of our time, saying: “Knowledge reveals our problem but it takes wisdom to solve it”.

He advised the students not to rest on their oars but to rather keep on seeking knowledge.

He encouraged all bishops and pastors of ACI to take part in the programme.

Dr Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, President of the University and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ACI, said the issue of church management required strategic innovations and that God’s Kingdom business also called for the application of good corporate principles in its building.

He said the motive of applying good corporate principles in the Church was not for profit making but rather for winning souls.

He explained that the reason for the Archbishop appointing a CEO for the ACI was to facilitate its smooth implementation.

Dr J. Appiah-Kubi, Dean of the School of Theological Studies, said there was the need to strategize in building the Kingdom of God; which makes the certificate programme in Strategic Church Management and Policy Development relevant for church growth.
