Agona East Assembly retains Presiding Member

Members of the Agona East District Assembly on Friday re-elected Mr Samuel Richard Zigah, a Senior Lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) as the Presiding Member (PM) for another two year term.

Twenty-six members of the 27 Assembly Members present confirmed his nomination whilst one voted against him in the Assembly’s meeting at Agona Nsaba.

Mr Anobil Forson, Agona East District Electoral Officer supervised the election.

Mr Zigah thanked the members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work with everyone who had the development of the district at heart.

He called for unity, saying that, “unity is the only panacea that can bring peace and development to the area”.

Mr Martin Luther Obeng, District Chief Executive (DCE) said the assembly has undertaken a number development projects to improve the living standards of the people.

He mentioned areas including health, education, roads, water and sanitation and agriculture as some of the sectors that had received development support.

He said the assembly’s Revenue Taskforce had collected an amount of GHC31,718,26 within four months of its operations.

Mr Kweku Baah Frempong, Agona Swedru Magistrates’ Court Judge swore Mr Zigah into office.
