Rotarians refurbish school library at Tema
As part of its social service commitment to society, Hotel JoeCarl at Community Six, co-financed the project.
Speaking at the handing-over ceremony at the school, Mrs Carlotta Emefa Ayayee, President of the Club, pointed out that in championing the course of its motto, that is, service above self, the Rotary Club of Tema-Meridian, has been at the forefront of community service, thus facilitating the provision and supply of social amenities to most deprived communities in the country.
Mrs Ayayee pointed out that a school library was a powerful force in the lives of school children, as well as a source of knowledge to young minds.
She, therefore, expressed the hope that the facility would enhance teaching and learning at the school.
Mrs Ayayee commended Ms Sally Tsibu-Mensah, former Head teacher of the school for the request and offer of a classroom for the project.
She assured the school authorities that Rotary Club of Tema-Meridian would, from time to time, supply the library with books.
Mr Theo Akofio Sowah, Assistant Governor of Rotary International District 9100, advised the children to make maximum use of the facility, since their interest in reading would impact positively on their academic performances and behaviour.
Mr Francis Boadu, Head teacher of the school, thanked Rotary Club of Tema-Meridian and Hotel JoeCarl for the gesture, and gave the assurance that library periods would be incorporated into the school’s time table, to enable the children make judicious use of their leisure hours.
