Suspected robber lynched in Sunyani

A suspected armed robber, in his mid-20s, was found dead at the victory park in Sunyani in the early hours of Thursday.

The alleged robber is believed to have being lynched by some residents after he and other accomplices broke into a shop in the area.

When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) went to the scene around 0800 hours, the corpse that was yet to be identified was lying prostrate with multiple bruises on the head while a large crowd was at the scene to catch a glimpse.

Mr Yaw Brenya, Assembly Member for Atoase Electoral Area, told the GNA that the deceased was among a gang of robbers, who attacked traders at the Nana Bosoma Central Market in Sunyani on Wednesday (market day) June 19.

Some residents in the area confirmed that they heard the deceased screaming for help around 0230 hours, but they could not come out at that odd hour.

The police have deposited the corpse at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Hospital Mortuary in Sunyani.
