Korle-Bu halts admission to children emergency ward

The Korle-Bu teaching hospital has announced the suspension of admission of patients to the children emergency ward for the next 48 hours to decongest the ward.

A statement signed y Mr Mustapha Salifu, Public Relations Officer of the hospital and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Thursday, said the suspension had become necessary as a result of the relocation of the emergency unit to a smaller place to pave way for the construction of a new emergency ward.

“In view of these developments, the hospital management wishes to advice operators of other hospitals and private clinics to refer cases that need further management to secondary hospitals first and cases that need advanced management could be referred to Korle Bu”, it said.

The statement also called on managers of secondary hospitals to contact 0302674063 extension 5370 before referrals are made, adding that, the situation is being reviewed regularly and all stakeholders would be updated on new developments.
