Students entering Colleges of Education beginning from the 2013/2014 academic year will access loan like all other tertiary students to pursue their courses.

This was disclosed by Professor Naana Jane Opoky-Agyemang, Minister of Education when she received a report from the Colleges of Education transition technical committee in Accra.

She said the access to loans for students would enable Colleges of Education to increase their intake of students, adding that, seventy per cent of students to be admitted would be drawn from the cohorts of students who completed their secondary education last month.

She commended the committee for a good job done and assured them of her administration’s eagerness to implement the recommendations in the report.

The Minister also recommended to the National Council on Tertiary Education to submit the proposed condition of service to the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission for advice.

Professor Mahama Duwieja, Chairman of the technical working committee said, it critically looked at all issues before arriving at conclusions.
