The Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) is to host information sharing forum on the review implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) in Ghana.

The UNCAC forum slated for July 4 would also be used to officially launch Ghana’s review process as well as provide information to enhance transparency.

A statement signed by Mr Richard Quayson, CHRAJ Deputy Commissioner, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said Ghana started the review process in February 2013 with the setting up of a Steering Committee.

It said UNCAC provides a comprehensive and unique opportunity for countries to form collective action in the fight against corruption.

The statement said in November 2008, the Conference of State Parties (CoSP) to the Convention Against Corruption was established.

It said the establishment was in pursuant to article 63 of the Convention which was to among others improve the capacity and cooperation between state parties and to promote and review the implementation of the Convention.

The statement said the CoSP established a mechanism for the review of the implementation of the Convention, which mandates each state party to provide detailed information based on a comprehensive electronic self-assessment checklist.

Two countries are selected to undertake the review – Ghana is being reviewed by Rwanda and Swaziland.
