Don’t take phones into examination hall – Director

cell-phoneMr Ignatius Mwinbe Ere-Der, Afigya-Kwabre District Director of Education, has advised Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates not to take mobile phones into the examination hall.

He said mobile phones were considered as one of the prohibited materials in the examination hall and candidates flouting this would face the same penalty spelt out for other examination irregularities. This includes the cancellation of the results.

He said the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) had the sole right to cancel the results of candidates if it detected any irregularity before, during and after the examination.

Mr Ere-Der was addressing an evaluation meeting on examinations held at Ahenkro with stakeholders to discuss challenges and the way forward to achieve better examination results in the current year.

The event, an annual affair, was attended by community leaders, teachers, students, supervisors and co-ordinators of the examination.

Mr Ere-Der counseled candidates to desist from all examination malpractices and other forms that could lead to the cancellation of the results.

He said it was the responsibility of all stakeholders to offer the needed support to ensure that the examination was organized under a serene atmosphere.

Mr Ere-Der appealed to people, especially community members, to stay away from the examination centres to enable the children to work on their own since they are capable.

He told the children to work hard to give good accounts of themselves and the district as a whole.

He cautioned that the Directorate would not hesitate to re-designate centres where examination malpractices took place.

Very Reverend Lieutenant Colonel Retired Isaac Kofi Gyamfi, Minister of the Tetrem Circuit of the Methodist Church, advised the children to use the few days at their disposal to study hard so as to come out successfully.
