The chiefs and people of Betenase in the Nkoranza Electoral Area of Adansi South District have appealed to President Mahama to re-elect Mr. Benjamin Anhwere as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.

According to them Mr. Anhwere’s tenure of office has brought massive development to the district and his re-election would further help to enhance the growth of the district.

Mr. Solomon Sarkodie-Addo, the assembly member for the area, who made the appeal at the inauguration of a 3-unit classroom block office and store, built by the assembly for the people, stressed that, “our electoral area can boast of school projects and distribution of furniture to schools during his time”.

He added that the unity of purpose transcending in the district portrayed the kind of leadership exhibited by the District Chief Executive.

Mr. Sarkodie-Addo appealed to the assembly to establish a health facility to cater for the minor health needs of the people in the area.

Nana J. K. Abim, the Odikro of Betenase corroborated the assembly member’s appeal for the retention of Mr. Ahwere, emphasizing that “the DCE’s re-nomination will facilitate the development of the area and the provision of additional classroom blocks for the community”.

The District Director of Education, Mr. Ralph Adjei noted that the construction of the school block testified to the fact that government was concerned about the education of Ghanaian youth.

He urged parents to motivate their children to attend school regularly and also ensure that the teachers posted to the community were not harassed on any minor issues.

Inaugurating the project, Mr. Ahwere expressed concern about the rate at which galamsey operators in the area were destroying the environment and charged them to ensure that they sought for genuine licenses with the chamber of mines to regularize their operations.

The DCE announced that the assembly had purchased a grader to help the rehabilitation of feeder roads in the district and enhance productivity in the agricultural sector.
