Hearts beats RTU 4-0

footballRelegated Real Tamale United (RTU) failed to record their first win in 25 games, succumbing 4-0 to Accra Hearts of Oak at the Tamale Sports Stadium in mid-week.

Hearts’ Mahatma Otoo and Gilbert Fiamenyo grabbed a brace each in either half to confirm the Phobians’ dominance.

Otoo hit the back of the net in 25 minutes after several missed opportunities when he completed a neat exchange with Karim Sadat to beat goalkeeper, Sulemana Rashid.

Otoo took his tally for the season to 15 when he consolidated the lead 11 minutes on through a powerful low grounder after dribbling past two of his markers.

Gilbert Fiamenyo, who replaced Sadat, quadrupled the scores in the 65th and 74th minutes, with assists from Moro Abubakar and Otoo.

Aside a few instances of brilliance, RTU, a ghost of their previous self that earned them the accolade “the pride of the north,” struggled to break the resolute defence of Hearts.

Karim Abdulai carried the team on his back as he made daring runs into the Hearts 18 and threatened on a number of occasions to redeem the image of RTU, but all to no avail.
