The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has called on the people of Akyem Abuakwa to unite and work towards the development of the area.

He was speaking at a non-denominational church service organized in his honour at Kwabeng as part of his peace mission to various parts of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, who had already visited Kyebi, Begoro and Apedwa, called for peace and unity.

He also expressed worry that pollution and destruction of water bodies by illegal gold miners was getting out of hand, and asked the people to help tackle the menace.

Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin also appealed to miners to abide by laws on small scale mining to help protect natural resources.

He appealed to government to repair roads in the area to facilitate economic activities.

The Okyenhene called for the deepening of the decentralization process to enable communities to be responsible for their own education and socio-economic development.

He asked parents to take good care of their children so that they could grow to become responsible adults.

Earlier in a sermon, the Reverend Cannon W. K. Obiri, Chairman of Kwabeng Local Council of Churches, urged the people to be cautious of their utterances.
