Kenya’s Safaricom gets Gemalto’s cloud-based solution to give mobile subscribers phonebook back-up services

Mobile bankingGemalto, a digital security solution provider announces it has provided its LinqUsCloudBackup solution to Kenya’s Safaricom.

The solution will enable Safaricom to offer its 18 million mobile subscribers “a comprehensive back-up service for phonebook contacts.”

The solution, compatible with most of the handset models, “ensures that Safaricom customers can easily protect themselves against the disruption caused by phone theft, loss, damage or replacement, through saving all their contacts automatically in the mobile operator’s cloud-based storage service,” Gemalto said.
